Inspired to Live Simply Grateful
I take time to acknowledge the daily miracles in my life because there are plenty of some that I'm aware of and others I must be intentional to seek. With all the distractions, taking those simple daily miracles and blessings for granted is easy.
Lessons from 19 Years of Marriage
Our marriage has been our own from the beginning. We have defined it for ourselves, and I am grateful that through God's grace, our marriage remains.
Taking Time for a Break
I haven't always felt comfortable taking breaks, but to be the best that I can for myself, I’ve learned that taking breaks from different areas of my life is necessary for my well-being.
Three Reasons I Encourage Moms to Dine Solo
I was 19 when a friend said to me, “Latonya, I don’t want to ever see you going out to eat alone.” She made this comment while she, her young daughter, and I were dining across from a woman who was eating alone.
Practical Tips for Taking Care of Mom
It’s been said over and over again that moms tend to place others before themselves. It’s also been said that if you don’t take good care of yourself then you can’t be much help to others. For the most part, I agree with the statements.
One Full School Year of Online Teaching through Outschool
Last February, I begin teaching online on a whim. I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never taught online, and the last time I put myself in a classroom situation, it wasn't the greatest experience. Honestly, my last public teaching experience made me feel like I would never teach again, and after years of teaching at a local co-op and coming to the conclusion it wasn't my most favorite way to teach either mostly because of class size, I began to wonder if teaching would indeed be a part of my life outside of homeschooling. Now one year later with Outschool, I can happily say that teaching is definitely a part of my life, and I enjoy it.

A Week in My Life: Strep Throat as an Adult
This week has been a memorable one for me. I've had some good things happen, but they were all clouded by my bout with Strep Throat. Guys, Strep is no joke as an adult. My husband shared with me today that some people have lost limbs because of the infection. I've experienced Strep a few times in my life, but it's been nearly 15 years since I've dealt with the infection. I don't remember feeling horrible for so long. I don't feel 100%, but I am on the mend.
