Out & About :: Gaylord Opryland ICE!

During the holiday season, the girls and I experienced ICE! at Gaylord Opryland for the first time.  Since this was our first encounter with the ice sculpture exhibit, I truly did not know what to expect.

READ: WE WERE NOT PREPARED.

When I read the description of the event online, my mind only focused on the Nutcracker part of the title.  In my mind, I had us prepared to see a theatrical performance or something.  ICE! Nutcracker was not that at all.

ICE! actually is an ice exhibit.  All pieces within the exhibit are frozen meaning the building is freezing cold.

As you can see, we were not dress for freezing cold temperatures.

Luckily, the exhibit was prepared and gave each of us a parka to wear over our clothing.  My youngest, the optimistic one for the day, reminded us that our former home prepared us for freezing cold weather therefore we should be used to it.  She was right, but it was still cold.

The temperature didn't stop us from taking in the exhibit.  The craftsmanship of the sculptures was amazing. Every piece was chiseled to reflect the story of The Nutcracker.  I am not sure how much ice was used to create the exhibit, but I can guess that it was a quite a bit.

Aren't the toy soldiers amazing?

Have you ever underprepared for an outing?  How did affect your experience?
