Recently, we enjoyed Adventures in Odyssey Up in the Air from Focus on the Family. This was our first time listening to an Adventures in Odyssey Christian story. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I wasn’t sure both of my daughters would enjoy the stories since we are in the midst of tween years with teen years right on our heels.
Read MoreI have a confession. I have never spent more than a day away from my children not even when I attended Hearts at Home. No overnight trips. No extended girls weekend. Nope, none of that. I wondered if I this was a rarity since many of my friends don't mind getting away sans children. I was recently reminded that there are other moms who are just like me, moms who haven't found a reason or two to head out alone for more than a day. I have finally found my reason, and it's the 2:1 Conference which will be held in Ohio this year.
Read MoreOur summer started off just as I hoped. This year, I actually put a little more effort into being intentional with our time. Of course, lazy days were on the list, but the girls also did a little light schooling. I have found that keeping them somewhat engaged in learning helps when it is time for us to return to our full learning load. But even with June starting off just as I hoped, July had a plan all its own.
Read MoreI often cringe when I am in an environment where selfish behavior is running rabid whether it's my own or another person's. One thing I learned as a transient child is that I did want to be the type of adult I often saw. My desire to not be selfish was one of my greatest gifts from a not so great childhood. This doesn't mean that I always get it right, but it does mean I am more aware of my behavior and the behavior of those around me.
