Homeschool Planning with Hey Mama! Print Planner REVIEW

I haven’t always been a planner.  I can only recount taking the time to plan in college so that I wouldn’t miss an assignment.  As we venture deeper and deeper into the home school way of life, I am finding that writing down goals for my daughters is becoming more imperative each day.  They are getting older, and they have goals for their adult life so whereas I used to wing it I have to be a bit more diligent in order to help them.

For the upcoming school year, I will be using the Hey Mama! Print Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 from The Old Schoolhouse . I am looking forward to using it. So far, I have been able to take the time to plan which days we will have on and off. I have enjoyed reading the encouraging letters throughout it because if I am honest I also need encouragement. The Hey Mama! Planner has a letter for each month written to the woman who is reading it. I know that I will be rereading the letters again especially the ones that really relate to where I am in this season of life. Not only does the planner offer a sweet and encouraging letter for each month, but it also has a place on the adjacent page to write out notes for the month. These notes can be anything. I will more than likely divide the page to write down the things I would like to do with the girls in the specific month and use it as a place to write down our accomplishments for the month. Since I have taken to planning and writing down goals in my everyday life, I have found it beneficial to somewhat journal in my planner. It is such a gift to have something tangible to guide in reflections. I am hoping this upcoming school year will prove to be fruitful, and I will have the notes to prove it.
Hey Mama! Schoolhouse Planner 2016-2017 Review

The Hey Mama! Planner is created specifically for the 2016-2017 school year, and I appreciate it.  I appreciate the fact that I will not have to take the time to fill in the months and the dates.  This is such a gift because if you have ever filled in a blank planner before then you know it can be time consuming, and here lately I have to make sure I am spending my time wisely.  There is also a column for notes on the two-page monthly calendar pages.  I will more than likely use this section to write down the art and science materials I will need for each month.  I am also working on being more prepared even though we tend to have most items on-hand, I want to make sure we have the less common things too. The monthly calendars are all grouped together with some of the Hey Mama letters and the monthly note pages at the front of the planner.

You will find that the weekly planning pages begin after the month of June 2017.  The weekly pages are also on a two page spread with six columns and eight rows.  This set up makes it easy for using a system that works best for your family.  I tend to plan vertically versus horizontally therefore I appreciate the grid is blank without any subjects prewritten.  You will also find Hey Mama! letters between the pages of the weekly calendars along with interesting facts pertaining to homemaking such as articles about the spinning wheel and washboard.

There are also several resources in the back portion of the planners such as pages for writing out monthly, yearly, and semester goals for each child.  I will definitely be utilizing these pages.  It will be the first time where all of my thoughts will be collected when it pertains to goals for the girls versus my many, many notebooks.  :)  There are also reading logs, attendance charts, curriculum planning sheets, writing prompts, and timelines for a variety of topics.

The Hey Mama! Planner is just what this mama needs as I venture into another year of learning with my girls. Are you considering a new planner?
