You're God's Girl! A Devotional for Tweens by Wynter Pitts REVIEW
You're God's Girl offers over 50 devotions for tween girls. As I've read through many of them with my daughters, I've felt like Wynter was sitting at the kitchen table alongside us. Her writing style is one that resembles sitting with a friend. It's not intimidating nor preachy which makes You're God's Girl a nice companion for a tween girl even if a parent wasn't reading it with her.
You're God's Girl, a paperback devotional, isn't dated which allowed us to jump in as soon as we received our copy. The first devotion in the book is titled " Why does God take His name seriously?" which honed in on reverence and the importance of respecting the Father. These are the type of devotionals which are found in You're God's Girl, true and practical instruction to help any tween on her faith journey.
Each devotional text is followed by prayer and application. The prayers are written based on the devotion of the day. For instance, the first devotion about God's name prayer emphasizes on helping the tween understand the importance of His name and offers gratitude for Him being available to us to call on. The application differs for each devotional. For instance, some require reading a book of the Bible like Esther, some have games like guessing which clue refers to which Fruit of the Spirit, and others have crafting such as creating a scrapbook of all of the amazing things God has done for the individual.
