Out & About :: Stones River National Battlefield

Recently, we toured Stones River National Battlefield with a small group of homeschoolers.

The tour included a brief presentation.  The young tourists were also given an activity book to complete while visiting the site.  Upon completing six activities, the children were sworn in as Junior Park Rangers and given a badge.  If they completed ten activities, they were also given a patch.

Throughout the visitor's center, there were several wax figures and replicas of items used during the Civil War period.

The first stop on our tour was the cemetery.

 We hiked to the place where the Confederate soldiers lost many lives and the battle.

 We were stragglers.  We didn't realize just how much walking there was to do.

The scenery at Stones River Battlefield is beautiful.
